With one month to go in 2021, the number of draws being held by provinces have dwindled down. The week of November 29 saw only two provinces holding PNP draws. British Columbia and Manitoba issued a combined total of 527 invitations.
89 invitations issued in new BC PNP Tech draw
British Columbia’s weekly PNP draws result in over 11,000 immigration candidates receiving invitations
On November 30, 2021, British Columbia held a new PNP draw for candidates with experience in the tech industry.
The tech draws are used by the province to fill labor shortages in the tech industry and attract experienced foreign workers.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued invitations to a total of 89 eligible candidates from the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories, to apply for a provincial nomination.
In order to be eligible, candidates were required to submit an application online through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), have a valid job offer in one of the province’s 29 eligible tech occupations, and meet a minimum provincial score of 78.
Selected candidates will need to submit their application for the nomination within 30 calendar days.
Candidates who successfully receive the provincial nomination will be awarded an additional 600 points on their existing Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
The boost in score makes it a near guarantee that their profiles will be selected when IRCC holds a round of invitations for permanent residency.
To date, B.C. has issued over 11,000 invitations to candidates.
Manitoba holds new PNP draw and invites 438 candidates
Over 10,000 invitations were issued by the province with one month left to go in 2021
Manitoba held a new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on December 2, 2021, and issued invitations (referred to as Letters of Advice to Apply) to 438 qualified immigration candidates.
Candidates were selected by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) across three programs:
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba
- Skilled Workers Overseas
- International Education Stream
Draw results at a glance:
|Streams||Number of LAAs Issued||Min. Score Required|
|Skilled Workers in Manitoba||358||449|
|Skilled Workers Overseas||51||726|
|International Education Stream||29||N/A|
71 of the LAAs went to Express Entry candidates with a valid profile in the federal system.
In order to qualify for the MPNP, hopeful applicants were required to create and register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the MPNP and meet the score requirements. The profiles are evaluated based on human capital factors such as age, education, experience, etc., and given a score out of 1,000.
Manitoba has been holding draws throughout the year since the start of 2021 and to date has issued 10,437 invitations to immigration candidates.
Candidates who successfully receive a provincial nomination will likely become eligible for draws held by IRCC early next year.
