Canada invites 1,070 candidates in new Express Entry draw
Another record is broken as IRCC continues to hold Express Entry draws for PNP candidates
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw on February 2, 2022. The draw was specifically targeting PNP candidates and resulted in 1,070 provincial nominee candidates receiving an invitation.
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) required to qualify for the draw was 674. Since PNP candidates are automatically awarded 600 points on their existing CRS score, the actual score of each applicant was in fact only 74 or higher.
With this draw, Canada breaks yet another record as the last record-breaking draw held on January 19 resulted in 1,036 invitations being issued. The score requirement is also lower than the two other draws held in January of the new year.
Once an Invitations to Apply (ITAs) has been issued to the candidate, they are given 60 days to complete and submit their application for permanent residency in Canada.
The 2022-2024 Immigration Levels Plan is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks and will provide more insight into whether IRCC is planning on resuming draws for candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
Currently, IRCC is facing a backlog of 1.8 million applications.
