B.C. holds Tech draw and issues 126 invitations
Over 800 invitations to immigration candidates have been issued by the province to date in the new year
A new draw was held by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) on February 1, 2022, for candidates with experience in the technology industry.
The Tech draw (which is a stream under the BC PNP) resulted in 126 tech workers receiving an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination.
In order to qualify for the draw, candidates who received an invitation had to meet the requirements for either the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories. They were selected specifically from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories.
A provincial score of 80 also had to be met and candidates were required to demonstrate they have a valid job offer for full-time employment in one of the province’s 29 eligible tech occupations.
Invited candidates will now need to submit their application for a nomination within 30 calendar days through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Successful candidates are awarded 600 points on their existing CRS score, putting them in the enviable position of being selected by IRCC when they hold draws for PNP candidates. B.C. has been holding weekly draws since the first week of January 2022 and has issued 840 invitations so far.
