Express Entry Program: Outlook for Third Week of February

A total of 1,082 Express Entry candidates received Invitations to Apply for permanent residency.

Another record number of PNP candidates invited by Canada

In the fourth Express Entry draw of the year, IRCC breaks yet another record

A new draw was held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on February 16, 2022, for PNP candidates.

In total 1,082 Express Entry candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. The draw targeted candidates who had previously received a provincial nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.

To qualify for the draw, candidates had to meet a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 710 or higher. Since candidates are automatically awarded 600 points upon receiving the nomination, the real score of each candidate is as low as 710.

Since the start of the new year, IRCC has held four draws, the last three draws in a row had IRCC breaking the record for most invitations issued.

Two weeks ago, the draw resulted in 1,070 invitations, which was a record, but it was beaten by this week’s draw when 12 more invitations were issued.

Selected candidates will need to submit their application for Canadian permanent residence within 60 days.

Canada’s goal for this year is to welcome 55,900 newcomers through Express Entry-managed programs, this is nearly half when compared to last year’s aim of welcoming 108,500 newcomers.

These targets may change in the fall when the Minister of IRCC tables the next multi-year immigration levels plan. This will need to be done by November 1, 2022.
