New Tech draw held in British Columbia

Since January 2022 over 1,100 immigration candidates have received invitations from B.C.

On February 15, 2022, British Columbia held its bi-weekly tech draw and issued invitations to 140 tech workers.

In order to qualify for B.C.’s tech draw, candidates have to meet the requirements of British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration streams and have a minimum provincial score of 85.

Both are managed through the province’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Candidates were specifically selected from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories.

Aside from meeting the provincial score, candidates also need to show they have a valid, full-time job offer (lasting for at least one year) in one of the province’s 29 eligible tech occupations.

Those who received an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination now have 30 days to submit their complete application.

British Columbia holds weekly Provincial Nominee Program draws with a draw targeting tech workers held every second week. These draws help the province deal with labour shortages across numerous sectors, including the tech industry.

BC PNP Tech was a pilot project when first launched in 2017 but given its enormous success and popularity, it was made into a permanent program in June 2021.
