1,047 immigration candidates selected in new Express Entry draw
IRCC holds fifth Express Entry draw targeting PNP candidates
A new draw was held by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on March 2, 2022, for candidates with a provincial nomination.
The draw resulted in 1,047 nominees receiving Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency. The cut off for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 761. The score was fairly high; however, this was not an issue for the candidates as they automatically received 600 points on their original CRS score.
Meaning that prior to receiving the nomination, their base score was 161.
Selected candidates will need to submit their application for Canadian permanent residency within 60 days.
This draw saw the number of invitations dropping slightly after IRCC held several record-breaking draws in a row.
Under the Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024 which was unveiled on February 14, 2022, a total of 83,500 newcomers are expected to enter Canada through base PNP and Express Entry-aligned categories.
This target is slightly higher than the previous levels plan where the target number was 81,500 for 2022 and 83,000 for 2023.
When the new Immigration Levels Plan is announced in November 2022, these numbers may change again.
