Provincial Nominee Program: Outlook for Fourth Week of April

Three provinces held PNP draws during the week of April 18. It was a shorter week due to Easter holidays. B.C. and PEI held their regularly scheduled draws, while Manitoba shifted back to a regular draw. A combined total of 618 eligible candidates were selected in the draws.

174 candidates invited in new B.C draw

Four draws held by B.C. to target candidates in specific occupations

The province of British Columbia held its weekly Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on April 19, 2022.

In total, over 174 immigration candidates were invited by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) to apply for a provincial nomination.

The bulk of the invitations were issued in the general draw. Chosen candidates were selected from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled subcategories. Depending on the subcategory, they were required to meet a minimum provincial score between 77 and 125.

Three additional draws were held targeting candidates from specific occupations. In two of the draws, 20 invitations went to early childhood educators and seven went to healthcare professionals. For both draws, a provincial score of 70 was required.

For the final draw, less than five candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategory were selected. They were animal health technologists, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians. A score of 70 was also needed in this draw.

Candidates who received invitations will have thirty days to submit their application for a provincial nomination.

British Columbia is the only province in Canada to hold weekly draws. Each week, the province alternates between holding a general draw and a tech draw.

Next week’s draw will be a tech draw.

Manitoba holds regular PNP draw

303 immigration candidates receive invitations in latest draw

After holding a special draw last week for Ukrainians, Manitoba held a regular draw on April 21, 2022.

In total, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to 303 candidates across three immigration streams.

Of the 303 candidates, 46 had an Express Entry profile.

Candidates who are interested in qualifying for the draw have to create and register an Expression of Interest (EOI) with the province. They will need to meet the requirements for the stream they are applying under as well as the provincial score.

When a profile is submitted, the province gives it a rating out of 1,000 points using human capital factors. More points are given when a candidate can show a clear link and connection to the province.

During a round of invitations, the highest-ranked candidates are selected for a provincial nomination.

Regularly scheduled PNP draw held by PEI

Prince Edward Island continues to follow its monthly schedule and holds the fourth draw of the year

The only province to publish a draw schedule in advance, PEI held this month’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on April 21, 2022.

Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations to 141 immigration candidates in total.

Candidates in Express Entry and Labor Impact categories received a combined total of 130 invitations. Business Impact candidates with a provincial score of 62 points, received the rest of the invitations (11).

Individuals who are interested in PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category need to create an Expression of Interest (EOI)profile with the PEI PNP. Each profile is evaluated and scored with the highest scoring candidates receiving invitations.

Once a candidate successfully receives a provincial nomination, they are automatically given 600 additional points on their existing Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

With this generous boost in points, it’s a near guarantee that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will select their profile during a round of invitations.

Since September 2021, IRCC has been holding Express Entry draws every two weeks, exclusively for PNP candidates. Candidates selected this week may become eligible for an Express Entry draw in the fall.
